College Store Operations
Apply general practices of collegiate retailing and understand the college/university environment and operating cycles. Plan for staffing and work scheduling. Define and document store policies and procedures. Identify, understand, and conduct routine financial operations. Understand receiving. Implement basic financial management procedures and understand about effectively communicating ROI.
Leadership and Human Resources
Apply and adopt the elements of a human resources role (planning, recruiting, training, evaluating, coaching). Understand the leadership practices that will help you and your staff get extraordinary things done.
Business Stewardship
Establish a clear vision for the store and effectively communicate it to staff, administration, and other stakeholders. Clarify and support staff and organizational values. Understand the changing operating environments for the college store. Pursue continuous improvement and cultivate teamwork.
Campus Relations
Understand the public relation function. Understand campus hierarchy and relationships, and how to determine viability of cross-departmental communications. Identify technology and innovations on campus and the role for the college store. Document and communicate store contributions to the campus and the community.
